Does my house have asbestos?
Buildings constructed or altered before 2000 may contain it. Laboratory analysis is the only way to be certain.
Which survey do I need?
Management survey for normal occupation; refurbishment and demolition survey before disturbing the fabric. We'll advise when you call.
How long does it take?
One to three hours for most homes; commercial sites are quoted with a time on site. Lab results follow within 24 hours.
Is it dangerous to take samples?
No. The material is wetted, a small piece removed and the spot sealed straight away.
What exactly do I get?
An HSG264 report with every material listed by location, photo, lab result, condition, risk score and recommended action.
I'm buying a house — is it worth it?
If the survey report mentions possible asbestos, it gives you facts to negotiate with.
Do I have to remove it?
Seldom. Sound material that won't be disturbed is usually left in place and checked periodically.
Is asbestos in a garage roof a problem?
Intact sheets are low risk. Damage, drilling and jet-washing are what cause fibre release.
Is it the landlord's or the owner's responsibility?
For non-domestic premises and common parts of flats, the person responsible for maintenance holds the duty to manage.
What if nothing is found?
